Recently, the CELLAGRI consortium came together for an inspiring and highly productive in‑person meeting. With almost all project partners present, the gathering marked an important milestone in the project’s journey and clearly demonstrated the strength of collaboration at the heart of CELLAGRI.

Throughout the day, researchers and innovators from across Europe exchanged perspectives from a wide range of disciplines, including biotechnology, materials science, agriculture, and surface engineering. These discussions went far beyond status updates: they allowed the consortium to explore the scientific foundations of the project in depth, align methodologies, and openly discuss both opportunities and challenges ahead.

What stood out most was the exceptional atmosphere among the participants. The meeting was characterized by openness, mutual curiosity, and a shared drive to create real impact. Ideas were challenged constructively, connections were strengthened, and the scientific direction of the project became increasingly clear. As conversations unfolded, a strong collective vision emerged one focused on developing sustainable, cellulose‑based solutions that can make a tangible difference in agricultural practice.

This kind of interdisciplinary exchange is essential to CELLAGRI’s ambition. By combining fundamental research with applied expertise and industrial know‑how, the consortium is laying a solid foundation for innovation that does not stop in the lab, but moves decisively toward real‑world application.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) for hosting the meeting and providing excellent facilities. Their support contributed greatly to a smooth, focused, and energizing day of collaboration.

Overall, the meeting was both valuable and motivating, reinforcing the strength of the partnership and the shared commitment of all involved. It confirmed that CELLAGRI is not just a research project, but a growing ecosystem of organisations working together toward a more sustainable future for agriculture.

We look forward to the next phases of the project and to welcoming new collaborators who share our vision.
